A Couple of Firsts

Then and Now

Here is a picture of Shelby practicing free throws at her very first Pacesetter Camp at Bigfork during the summer months and then one of her senior year. The other picture is of her learning to dribble the ball at her very first day of Saturday Basketball at Bigfork when she was in fourth grade. We transferred her from Northome to Bigfork that year so it was her first year playing with the Bigfork girls. And of course now, during the Cook game last Saturday.

Julie, I totally remember running the Sweet 16 in Eveleth my 7th grade year and seeing this little blonde 5th grader from Bigfork running up and down. She looked a lot like my sister that's why I picked her out. Turned out it was Shelby! Funny how that worked out.

Are you the one from Lincoln Park? I always wondered who was checking my site out from there! Are you originally from Eveleth then? Thanks for posting! I love to know where people are from...thanks!

Nope not Lincoln Park, I'm Jesse Powell's girlfriend in Columbus, OH at school at OSU. Yep, I'm from Eveleth and keeping tabs on the team and lil' Meglet!

I'm glad she did. She gives us updates sometimes. Jesse and I really wish we could be there right now... If they make it to the dance Jesse will be there.

I was wondering if he would try and get there! He has been so missed during the season here as he sure knew how to get the girls going!

jesse is, hands down, our favorite "cheerleader"/fan!! he gets the crowd going like no other!! what a sweet big brother he is to our little meglet and to the other girls, also! i love that many of our young men are trying to keep the spirit alive, but i must say that no one can get the crowd on their feet quite like jesse! it was wonderful to see him there and to hear the infamous ROAR of "GO HUSKIES! GO HUSKIES! GO HUSKIES! GO!!" one little old lady behind me said the the young man with her, "i can't understand a word he is saying, but from the looks of the fans- i guess we don't need to! they seem to just know what he is saying! what a spirited young man!" and i must agree! jesse makes me smile everytime i see him because he exudes happiness and school spirit at every game he attends! you could just "feel" it when jesse entered the arena for the games! he has the ability to change the atmosphere of the game! he is a wonderful young man and kim and rob should be very proud of the man he has grown up to be! keep a good hold on him christine.... you have quite the sweetheart there! and welcome to the Bigfork Huskies "family".... hope to see you next year at some of their games!
